Southeast Asia and Taiwan
Southeast Asia and Taiwan both have a rich online gaming culture. And no matter the title, from Asian games to Western titles—the history of online gaming in these cultures is deep seated. Even though most gamers primarily enjoy their titles from home, internet cafes have remained a popular social destination for gamers looking to mingle with fellow players.
The most recent addition to the League of Legends community, the Korean beta kicked off in style with over 300,000 summoners signing up in the first 24 hours of operation. Since then, the numbers have been steadily climbing, placing League of Legends into the top six games in Korea. While it remains to be seen how they will fare in international competition, the Koreans’ long history of competitive gaming makes them an intimidating new arrival to the world stage.
In the six months since their open beta began, China has quickly become one of the biggest League of Legends communities in the world. A perennial competitor in the MOBA gamespace, China shocked the League of Legends eSports world when they exploded onto the scene at IntelEM Global Challenge Guangzhou with World Elite stealing the spotlight by eliminating several heavily favored teams. We look forward to hearing more from these up and coming competitors in events to come.

From massive volumes of fan content to bustling LAN parties and tournaments, Europe is positively alight with enthusiasm for League of Legends. On the competitive front, this region sports some of the oldest and most celebrated eSports teams and organizations in history, with players from all across the continent often coming together to compete side by side.

Europe Nordic & East
The residence of the Riot Games headquarters and oldest of the League of Legends communities, North America is home to some of the most veteran players that the game has to offer. Many of the leading personalities in the international community hail from this platform, including ReginaId, Dyrus, Dan Dinh, Saintvicious, HotshotGG and Chaox, who regularly entertain thousands of viewers on their respective gaming channels.
